Morning Star Girls' Camp
August 3-9 and August 10-16, 2008
Trial Blazing… MSC 2008 at Montfort Retreat
This year is the 27th season for Morning Star Camp, and a new page in history begins!
After years of renting facilities, The Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary now own and operate Montfort Retreat, a lake front camp, bought and built through the support and labor of friends.
Rushing streams, stony hills, pine, and mighty oaks make this gem of a location the perfect setting for a fun-filled week, dedicated to Mary the Morning Star. Most important of all the buildings is the beautiful rustic Chapel on a gentle hill at the end of “Via Maria” overlooking the river that pours into the lake. Here the Tridentine Mass will be offered for the campers, setting the spirit of the week with its prayerful and rich tradition.
A Week to Remember!
$185 per camper
Ages 10-18
Week of Aug 3-9 : FULL
Aug 10-16 : still accepting applicants.
A log cabin lodge, log dining facility and pavilion, bathhouse and 15 cabins, all newly built will be initiated at this years camp.
Far from total completion, the 2008 campers will be the “ground breakers” initiating activities, but each year will see more development with added shrines, playgrounds and boats!
Morning Star…a camp with a mission
A dizzying list of social needs have driven today’s youth farther away from the simple pleasures of normal childhood, depriving them of happy memories and launching them into a stress filled desire to please and achieve! No time is left to “smell the roses,” enjoy the sunshine, and listen to the wind.
Morning Star Camp for Catholic Girls is an answer to the prayers of those who want to break with this trend and enjoy the simple fun and happy camaraderie of other girls in a wholesome atmosphere inspired by a spirit of “To Jesus through Mary.”
Activities
Campers participate in the following activities
Religious Instruction Latin Tridentine Mass Daily Rosary Arts and Crafts Swimming Sailing Canoeing Archery Recorder Campfires Performing Entertainment Cabin Inspections Achievement and Good Conduct Awards Guest Speakers and more!
“The Morning Star” is the moving force of the Camp. Under her light all the activities, whether boating, canoeing, arts and crafts, singing or dancing are penetrated with the spirit of Faith, taught through the religion classes, Traditional Latin Mass and the Rosary.
Divided into age-appropriate groups, each girl grows in a love for her Faith, by leading the group Rosaries, and listening to speakers who encourage and direct them to be good Catholic leaders no matter what age. Spending time appreciating God’s beauty and love in creation at this beautiful lake front facility and receiving formal instruction of the eternal beauty of their Faith, each camper returns home spiritually changed and invigorated to take on the challenges of living in our pagan society. They are fortified by a week where they learn to “Love the Catholic Church.”
